02 · Legislators

Write your Georgia representatives.

Georgia's General Assembly provides an official legislator lookup. Use it to find your state senator and state representative, then send them a short, personal message. Below is a starter draft you can copy and edit.

  2. Step 2. Copy the starter draft below and personalize it — even one added sentence about why this matters to you makes a real difference.
  3. Step 3. Email or call each of your two legislators (senator and representative).

Starter message

Dear [Senator/Representative Last Name],

As your constituent in Georgia, I'm writing to ask you to support humane, science-informed wildlife policy in our state — including legislation to restrict the retail sale and routine use of vertebrate glue traps.

Consumer glue traps are indiscriminate. Animal-welfare organizations including Humane World for Animals and the RSPCA have documented the prolonged suffering they cause to both target and non-target animals, including songbirds, chipmunks, and juvenile reptiles. Ireland and the United Kingdom have enacted national prohibitions, and the U.S. CDC and UGA Cooperative Extension both recommend Integrated Pest Management — exclusion, sanitation, and targeted trapping — as the more effective approach.
